What is Skar Audio's Warranty Policy?

How do I start a Warranty Claim?

If you purchased directly from our website, Amazon store, or eBay store, please visit our Returns and RMS Portal to initiate a warranty claim.

For purchases made through a local dealer, we recommend contacting them directly to initiate your warranty claim.

How long will it take to get my product back?

Skar Audio typically processes and determines warranty coverage within 3 to 5 business days from the item's arrival at our facility.

Will I receive a new product if my item is covered under warranty?

If your warranty is valid within 30 days of purchase, you'll receive a new product. For warranties beyond 30 days, we provide a certified refurbished or used product.

Does Skar Audio cover return shipping of my product for warranty?

If you purchased directly from our website, Amazon store, or eBay store within the last 30 days, we provide a pre-paid shipping label for warranty claims.

For all other warranties, the customer is responsible for return shipping.

How should I ship my item back to you?

Warranties initiated within 30 days of purchase will include a pre-assigned carrier on the shipping label.

Do I need to return the original packaging to receive a refund in full?

Although not required, we’d appreciate it if you return the original packaging with your item(s). Please package everything securely to ensure its safe arrival

Skar Audio has warehouses located in Tampa, FL and Las Vegas, NV - ensuring we can deliver your order as quickly as possible. Most orders are delivered within 2 business days, but depending on your shipping address, it could be faster/slower.

Does Skar Audio offer expedited shipping?

Skar Audio does not offer a specific method for expedited shipping as we strive to get all orders delivered to customers as quickly as possible.

If I purchase an item on backorder, when should I expect to receive it?

The date your item was expected to be back in stock for your backorder/preorder was listed on the product page during your initial purchase on our website. It can also be found in the email you received after placing your order, with the line item for the specific product(s) out of stock each having its own estimated back in stock date.

Amplifier

How do I tune my amplifier?

Here’s a quick guide to tuning your amplifier:

  1. Reset Controls: Set all filters, bass EQ, and gain to the minimum.
  2. Adjust Gain: Play a 50Hz test tone at moderate volume, increase gain until distortion starts, then back off slightly.
  3. Set Crossovers: For subwoofers, set the low-pass filter (LPF) to 80-100Hz. For full-range speakers, set the high-pass filter (HPF) to 80-100Hz.
  4. Set Bass EQ: Keep the Bass EQ at 0dB.
  5. Fine-Tune: Listen to different music genres and make small adjustments for balance.

Additional Tips: Use a multimeter for precise tuning or consider visiting a car audio shop for additional assistance.

What is clipping?

Clipping in car audio occurs when an amplifier is pushed beyond its limits, causing distortion.

Why are my subwoofers popping?

Subwoofers may pop due to various reasons, such as:

  • Connection Problems: Loose or damaged cables can cause popping sounds.
  • Overloading: Excessive power or distortion can lead to popping noises.
  • Amplifier Issues: Faulty or improperly tuned amplifiers might cause popping.

Why does my amp have 2 positive (+) and 2 negative (-) outputs?

The amplifier has multiple positive and negative terminals, but it's still a monoblock amplifier. These multiple terminals are provided to avoid crowding all wires into a single port.

What amplifier should I choose for my speakers?

We recommend choosing an amplifier that is able to output the correct RMS rating for the speakers you have. All amplifiers will have a max power, however RMS is going to be the constant power supplied to the speaker.

Are Skar Audio amplifiers stable below 1 ohm?

Skar Audio amplifiers are not stable below 1 ohm. Please be aware that running your amplifier below 1 ohm is against manufacturer specifications and can result in voiding your warranty.

Does Skar Audio repair amplifiers?

We do not directly offer amplifier repair services that fall outside the scope of our normal warranty policy. We recommend contacting an independent third party repair company to get your amplifier repaired if needed, such as AmpMedics, etc.

Subwoofer

How do I break in my subwoofer?

To break in your subwoofer, play it at low to moderate volume levels for the first 10-20 hours. Gradually increase the volume over time to allow the components to settle and achieve optimal performance.

Note: This is the simplest method to break in your new Skar Audio subwoofer. For more help, consider visiting a car audio shop.

What is the difference between a Dual 4 ohm voice coil and Dual 2 ohm voice coil?

The difference in coil configuration affects the impedance the amplifier will see when wiring the subwoofers. Choose the coil configuration based on your amplifier’s capabilities and the number of subwoofers you plan to connect.

Enclosure

Will Skar Audio make me a custom enclosure?

  • Skar Audio does not design custom enclosures or designs for them.
  • This includes making any recommendations on 4th and 6th order bandpass enclosures.
  • Skar Audio does offer a industry leading completely customizable box designer free of charge that you can use to design an enclosure for your subwoofer, which can be found on our Box Design Calculator page
