Guide to understanding and adjusting your amplifier settings.

This guide explains the key settings found on Skar Audio monoblock amplifiers.

Low Pass Filter (LPF)

The Low Pass Filter blocks frequencies above its set level. For instance, a 125 Hz setting permits only lower frequencies through to speakers or subwoofers.

Subsonic Filter

Works oppositely to LPF by blocking frequencies below its set level. A 30 Hz setting allows only higher frequencies to pass through. This protects your subwoofers from extremely low frequencies that can cause damage.

Bass EQ

Designed to enhance low frequencies but should remain in the off or 0 dB position in most scenarios.

Warning: Improper use of Bass EQ can result in damage to your subwoofer and potential warranty exclusion.

Gain

Contrary to misconception, the gain control is not the same as a volume knob. Instead, it optimizes signal-to-noise ratio by matching input sensitivity with the source unit's output voltage.

Phase

Adjusts subwoofer polarity direction. Two primary uses include:

  • Correcting inverted subwoofer orientation
  • Coordinating multiple subwoofers across different amplifiers that operate in opposing directions

Master/Slave Switch

Found on strappable amplifiers, this setting designates one unit as Master and another as Slave when combining two identical amplifiers for increased power output. Consult your amplifier's manual for proper configuration.
